When is O365 E5 the right choice?
Office 365 E5 fits if you want the strongest compliance and email security in Office 365 plus Power BI Pro and Teams Phone bundled in one license, and you handle device and identity management separately. Typically regulated industries consolidating expensive add-ons.
When should you choose a different plan?
Choose Microsoft 365 E5 if you also need device management (Intune), Windows Enterprise and endpoint XDR (Defender for Endpoint). If you don't need the advanced Office compliance, Office 365 E3 covers the need at a lower price.
