TL;DR
E7 ($99/mo, GA May 2026) bundles E5 + Copilot + Agent 365 + Entra Suite. For organizations already paying E5 ($60) + Copilot ($30) = $90, E7 costs just $9 extra and includes Agent 365 + Entra Suite on top. It's almost always the better deal.
What is E7 Frontier?
Microsoft 365 E7, also called Frontier Suite, is Microsoft's newest and most complete license. It launches at $99/user/mo and becomes generally available from May 2026.
E7 is Microsoft's bundle license. Instead of buying E5 + Copilot + various add-ons separately, E7 packages it all in one license.
It's the most expensive Microsoft 365 plan, but for the right organizations it's cheaper than buying the parts individually.
What does E7 include?
E7 bundles four products in one license:
- •Microsoft 365 E5 ($57/mo until June 30, $60/mo from July 1, 2026): Everything in E3 plus Defender XDR, Purview advanced compliance, Power BI Pro, Teams Phone
- •Microsoft 365 Copilot ($30/mo, unchanged after July 2026): AI assistant in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams with access to the data the individual user has rights to via Microsoft Graph
- •Agent 365 ($15/mo): Platform for building, deploying and managing AI agents that can perform tasks autonomously. GA May 1, 2026.
- •Entra Suite ($12/mo): Advanced identity management with Internet Access, Private Access (VPN replacement) and governance.
Before July 1, 2026: $57 + $30 + $15 + $12 = $114/mo. E7 price is $99/mo. Saving: $15/user/mo. From July 1, 2026: $60 + $30 + $15 + $12 = $117/mo. E7 price is still $99/mo. Saving: $18/user/mo.
For 100 users: $1,500/mo ($18,000/year) before July, $1,800/mo ($21,600/year) after. The bundle gets more valuable as the E5 price rises. Note: E7 only pays off if you actually use all four components.
E5 + Copilot vs E7, the math
Most people considering E7 are already on E5 and looking at Copilot. The math:
- •E5 + Copilot = $60 + $30 = $90/mo
- •E7 = $99/mo (+$9)
- •For $9 extra you get: Agent 365 + Entra Suite
- •E3 = $39/mo → E7 = $99/mo (+$60)
- •Price jump: significant. But you get E5 features + Copilot + Agent 365 + Entra Suite
- •Alternative: E3 + Copilot = $69/mo (saves $30 but loses E5 security)
- •The jump is $39/mo ($60→$99)
- •You get: Copilot + Agent 365 + Entra Suite
- •Copilot alone costs $30, so the extra $9 gives Agent 365 + Entra Suite
Scenario 1 is a no-brainer. $9 extra for two products that normally cost $27.
Who is E7 for?
E7 makes sense for:
- •Organizations already on E5 + Copilot, you save money by switching
- •AI-first organizations, you want to build your own agents and automate workflows
- •Large enterprise (500+ users), simplification of license management, one SKU instead of many
- •Organizations with complex identity needs. Entra Suite replaces VPN and provides advanced governance
E7 is NOT for:
- •SMBs under 300 users. Business Premium or E3 covers you
- •Organizations not using AI, you're paying for Copilot and Agent 365 without using them
- •Budget-conscious teams. E3 ($39) + targeted add-ons is cheaper if you only need 1-2 E5 features
My recommendation
Have E5 and considering Copilot? Choose E7. For $9 extra per user per month you get Copilot + Agent 365 + Entra Suite. It's the easiest decision in all of Microsoft licensing.
For everyone else, it depends on your situation:
Start with E7 if: You're a large organization (500+), you want to bet on AI, and you have budget for $99/user/mo.
Hold off on E7 if: You're on E3 and happy, you haven't tried Copilot yet, or you have under 300 users.
E7 becomes GA in May 2026. I recommend testing Copilot with a pilot group on E5 first. If it delivers value, E7 is the natural next step.

Compare E5 and E7Frequently asked questions
What is Microsoft 365 E7 (Frontier Suite)?+
E7 is Microsoft's most comprehensive license, GA from 1 May 2026 at $99/user/mo. It bundles Microsoft 365 E5 + Microsoft 365 Copilot + Agent 365 + Entra Suite in one license. Buying the components separately costs $117/mo from July 2026, so E7 saves $18/user/mo.
What does Microsoft 365 E7 cost?+
E7 costs $99/user/mo as list price. The price is unchanged from announcement and does not rise on 1 July 2026. It requires an Enterprise Agreement or CSP agreement and is typically relevant from 100+ users where license administration otherwise becomes heavy.
When does E7 make sense compared to E5 + Copilot?+
E5 ($60) + Copilot ($30) = $90/mo. E7 costs $99/mo, only $9 extra, and you get Agent 365 ($15) and Entra Suite ($12) on top. It's almost always the better deal if you have E5 and are considering Copilot. Conversely: if you won't use Copilot, E5 alone is cheaper.
